  Married about 1775. James was the first settler of Brush Valley, Wheatfield Twp. Indiana Co. PA in 1780. Built a log cabin and trapper Hut. He served in the Revolutionary War as Pvt. Cumberland Co. Militia, 7th Co. 5th Battalion. This is noted in the PA Archives, Series 5, Vol 4).
